DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This position is responsible for the receipt and storage of food and supplies, the counting of food items, operation of a Point of Service (P.O.S.) cash register and the maintenance of both electronic and written records. Direct supervision is received from administrative personnel. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)
Checks and records incoming foods and supplies and makes regular inventories;
Prepares change for, operates and closes P.O.S. cash registers;
Supervises and coordinates all monies collected for deposit into bank account in absence of manager;
Counts food items before and after lunch periods;
Maintains electronic and written records;
Assists as needed with food preparation.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Working knowledge of basic food service routines;
Ability to help in preparing food;
Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions;
Ability to operate a P.O.S. cash register and a computer, and maintain simple records;
Ability to maintain effective working relationships;
Elementary mathematical aptitude; cleanliness; neatness; tact; courtesy; good judgment; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One (1) year of experience in the preparation and serving of foods in large quantities.
